I was driving home the other night, and waiting to make a right turn, when a cyclist comes bouncing off the footpath, and straight in front of me. The most infuriating thing was that there was a bike lane on either side of the road. This guy would rather ride on the footpath than be bothered to cross the road and ride in the bike lane??
The guy was old enough to know better too. If you hit him, he'd cry why didn't you see him? I bet "sorry officer, I don't scan all footpaths for fast bicycle traffic before every turn" wouldn't get you off. Police **always** blame the car.
I really feel sorry for your mate. If there is any good to come of this, at least most insurance companies give you a new car if you write it off in the first year. Hope he doesn't have to wait too long.
At least he might be able to tweak the spec on the new one
