Either dealers or a garage that can read ODBII fault codes but then some on the MINI are MINI specific so not easy. Could be just an O2 sensor failure Worth getting it checked.

If it went into limp mode then its more serious. Emission light alone usually means just emissions related e.g. O2 Sensors, Cat Efficiency.
