My new standard S went back to my dealer the day after i collected it with coolant problems. The tank was totally devoid of any coolant fluid!!

Fortunately i had only driven 3 miles to work and i insisted MINI came to inspect the car as it stood at work. They came and took it away and returned it the same day "with no apparent faults"

Since then, i've had a constant bubbling noise from the coolant every time i park up, although the level has remained consistant in the tank and no other major problems (except the cold start noise) have materialised

I was getting the "water noise behind left side of dash" issue about 2 weeks before the pipe was burned through - they said it was probably air in the systerm and that it should be resolved as part of fitting this new pipe and refilling/bleeding the system.

Interestingly, the Master Tech did say that he thinks they had changed the design of this pipe (from the turbo, downwards to somewhere or other) since I got it so maybe there was a known problem and a design change was made...
