Barring north-western and coastal Germany there is a Continental climate: warmer summers, colder winters. UK has a temperate maritime climate: rather milder. Germany (From Weather Online UK - Current Weather and Forecasts Worldwide ) "During January, the coldest month, the average temperature is about 1.5°C in the north and about -2°C in the south." England: the coldest months are December, January and February, when the temperature is usually between 3 and 6°C." QED.
