Yes, ask him...that seems excessive to me..maybe not the 55 miles but I can't really say that because I've driven many more than that - in my '04 and '06 - and not had the fan go on... Perhaps this is something endemic to the newer MINIs? Mine have also been automatics...CVTs and now the newer auto.

I bet you could do a search on the 2nd Generation forum and find some salient info.
