Wow - scary. I drive a truck very similar to that one when I'm over in the States... although the one I use is an F350 (bigger) rather than an F250. I'll have to keep an even sharper look out for MINIs next time I'm over there...

The officer did advise the MINI driver that he should contest the ticket in court and that the officer would testify in the MINI driver's defence. It sounds like a ticket is standard operating procedure in an event like that - the officer had no wiggle room for discretion.
