Visit my gallery to view pics of a R56 MCS engine with the cylinder head cover removed. Also included are photos of the spark plugs, hydraulic lash adjuster (HLA), roller finger follower (RFF), and a view of the HLA bore in the cylinder head. Note that RFF and HLA may indeed be removed and replaced without camshaft removal.
