| As you should be able to read - I've not once advocated the use of his speed in the video posted. I've agreed all along that 130mph on that road with those conditions is wrong, dangerous, illegal all the above.
My argument - and admittedly, it was lazy quoting on my part - was not about the safety between going 10 mph over the speed limit and 70 it was about morality. And that people are saying (not you) I'll happilly go XX mph over the speed limit but not XX + Y
Why not? You're already happy to break the law, and if that's the case how come it's OK for YOU to decide on the new definition of what safe is.
I totally agree that it's inappropriate use of speed that kills. What I was saying though is that there are SOME country roads and certain conditions that would allow you to do that speed in safety. Conversely there are posted limits on roads that are way too high.
Friends of ours live up a farm track that is barely wider than one car and unpaved. The posted speed limit up there is 60. I'd suggest 5mph is about right. |
