I was originally looking at a Dooper Clubman as my next car but although the torque figures are impressive (and the fuel economy!!) - for me, that did not seem to transfer to the actual drive itself. Don't get me wrong, I was impressed with how smooth and quiet the Cooper D was, but it didn't really seem to have much pull with the right foot down. I appreciate that the car I tested only had a few thousand miles on the clock but even with a little more running in, I wasn't convinced that it would improve significantly. Perhaps it was a bit much to ask stepping into it from our current Cooper S, but in the end, I didn't feel that the Dooper had enough pull to keep me smiling so it's going to be two Cooper S's on the drive next month!
