Oooh, not good.
Always hate to see a Mini go like this. The BMW Z3 and Z4 roofs are so much simpler (only 1 moving part) and are simple as to fix, regardless of how horribly they go wrong. They have been well praised by people I know in the industry. Bad BMW for not making the Mini roof like that.
Having said that, I sympathise - I had gearbox problems long denied by BMW but well known in the real world. One day a thump, clunk, clunk later I had a $15k repair bill. Now have a 6 speed Getrag
and although I'm trying to sell it now (Dave wants a Porsche) it's running like a charm.
