I saw an interesting observation from John "Daring Fireball" Gruber the other day which tied in with someone else's theorizing on why Apple wouldn't make a netbook. It used to be that your laptop was a secondary computer to your main desktop computer. Now, it's increasingly the case that your smartphone (particularly iPhone users it seems) is the secondary computer and your main computer is now a laptop.
The fact that Apple classes everyone as OS X users whether they use it on a desktop, laptop or phone suggests that this trend will continue....

I also saw a survey that said that a high percentage of netbook owners were very disappointed and would not buy another. Seems that manufacturers like to over-sell the capabilities and people don't really realize what the compromises are they're making to get a $300 computer...
