Securing an after-market head unit

Cooper S, 55 reg.

I fitted a Sony after-market head unit today. The cage that attaches to the facia has little tabs that you're supposed to bend outwards to hold it in, but they weren't usable as they would have prevented the cage+facia from sliding all the way in. Also they could not be used when the cage+facia were already in place as there was no room to bend them outwards.

I was hoping the pillars would hold the unit in place once they were screwed back into place, but no luck. Thankfully the head unit I chose has a removable front so it doesn't look nickable, but I'd like to know if there's any other way to secure it in place. Apart from anything else, I don't want it rocketing out of the console when I open the throttle
