The dealer who supplied my car failed to acknowledge there was a problem with it - occasional diesel car clattering sound on start up lasting a few minutes. I read that this was a fault that Mini had tried unsuccessfully to resolve. I gather a successful fix in the form of a modified chain tensioner has been designed. I took my car for a service last week to another dealer who have arranged to take the car back in next week to fit a new tensioner. This leaves me cheesed off with the dealer I bought from as they fobbed me off when I took mine back in shortly after delivery, when they would have known of the cold start issues.
Anyone out there had this work done since Feb '09 when I gather this fix was released? Can't say I am that happy at there having been a problem with the timing chain for the first 15k miles of the life of the car. Is this a big job and does anyone have a view on whether the timing chain should be replaced too? |
