United-States indepent MINI mechanic in NYC or near?

Looks like I have a steering pump/fan problem (chewed to death already, but may be there is some new wisdom???) - with a 2005 Cooper. Last summer, power steering would just cut-out, and that was more or less ok; this summer, pump continues to run (not sure if it is the entire pump or just the fan) even with the key in ignition, draining the battery. Attempts to shut it off by removing fuse(s) in engine compartment failed (incidentally, what the fuse box cover says, and what is actually there is not the same), I tried pulling out all of them, the pump/fan ignored my meek efforts... The dealer cheerfully suggests that full pump replacement might be in order, at you-all-know-the-horrifying-cost. One component of the cost is the pump itself - and the dealer wouldn't use the rebuilt/aftermarket version. So, is there an independent place in NYC, or reasonably close vicinity that deals with Minis and is not bound by dealer's covenants to use the most expensive parts and charge the highest labor rate?
