United-States Making Bonnet Hole Do Something

The MCS scoop is nothing more than a styling gimmick. The design is so poor that almost all of them over here are melting from turbo heat when parked. Mine was replaced, but with same scoop. Got the M7 heat shield and Ram2 scoop to solve the problem. After install, I noticed that air intake temps in heavy traffic had dropped from 30-40 deg. F. over ambient to only 10-12 deg. over. That M7 scoop must be moving a lot of air through the bay. Have since wrapped the inlet tube with thermal insulating tape. Temps in stop & slow traffic are now down to 3-6 deg. over. Haven't checked temps at highway speeds, but don't expect anything as dramatic. IOW, that "hole" in the bonnet can be made to due something useful!

PS: Looked at M7 & DDM CAI's. Neither appear to be insulated.
