Yep. If you don't get feedback other than "looks cool", you'll never learn.
Keep doing it, that's the most important thing.
I was lucky, my wife has worked in design for years and has a very critical eye. I just had her ripping my early Photoshop work to pieces, rather than having to post on the net (not that I really could back then!!) for others to be critical of too!
It all helped me improve though.
