I had a very similar problem on my 04
mcs. The seatbelt light would take about 5 seconds to go out after buckling up. My mechanic removed the seat and replaced the (or portion of the) latch mechanism. That fixed it.
If I have this to do again I think I'd first try shooting some electronic cleaner in there and see if that fixes it.
