Ah! He said the magic words: "money no object".

Go for max performance: MINI Cabrio S, John Cooper Works kit, Brembo brakes fore and aft, Koni (or Spax or Bilstein) dampers, strut tower brace, stiffer (though not neccessarily lower) springs, stiffer suspension and steering bushings all around. Opt for the lightest possible wheel/tire combo, which might mean sticking with 17" diameter alloys. And if you really want to get rid of that annoying excess cash, have the motor fully and properly "blueprinted" by the folks at JCW: piston/rod pairs all carefully matched to within tiny fractions of a gram of each other, "cc" the head for exactly the same volume at the top of each cylinder, hand-match the intake and exhaust manifolds to the head, etc.
