I've also approached my dealer about the Digitec conversion.
So far they are getting in touch with Digitec in Datteln to find out more about what is actually done to the car (I've already told them but they want some official stats.)
I seem to be getting a fairly positive resonance at the moment, at least they didn't say "NO" right from the start. My salesman was very positive about Digitec but in the end it all comes down to someone higher up whether I can go ahead with the conversion without losing the complete warranty. My aim is to take the guarantee from Digitec and to have everything else covered by my dealer.
Apart from that Digitec are proving to be very helpful in all aspects. After all that I have heard about them and the way that they operate is beginning to convince me that I should go ahead with the conversion anyway.
If you want some 'on the road' impressions of Digitec (and understand German) then take a look at mini2ig.de in the 'Tuningstagebuch'. There has also been a lot of positive stuff written about Digitec and the owner of the firm is actively posting in the forum.
There are also other conversions available in Germany notably from MTH tuning, which is essentially an ECU remap. This can be played onto or taken off of the ECU as often as you require, avoids the 'update counter' and is as such allegedly impossible to detect. All you need is a laptop computer and an OBDII cable.
Whatever you eventually decide to do, good luck and above all have fun. Passengers ride at own risk ! |
