I'm undecided on the mirrors turned in theory.
I do usually turn mine in when parked, but I wonder if when people driving along see the mirrors turned in, they think they can go that little bit closer to the parked cars, and could end up scratching the whole length of the cars panels? Personally, I'd rather have my mirror dinged than a scratch the length of the car. (I think the mirrors only stick out about an inch further than the widest point of the door?) Any thoughts?
My favourite parking tactic is parking in front/behind some huge Merc M-class, BMW X5 or similar, so that the MINI is nicely tucked into the kerb, and drivers will adjust for the wider parked vehicles so hopefully the MINI is nice and protected.
