parking behind a bigger car is very sensible advice - thank you! getting 17inch wheels so will have to be really switched on with my parking so i dont' damage them!

I do usually turn mine in when parked, but I wonder if when people driving along see the mirrors turned in, they think they can go that little bit closer to the parked cars, and could end up scratching the whole length of the cars panels? My favourite parking tactic is parking in front/behind some huge Merc M-class, BMW X5 or similar, so that the MINI is nicely tucked into the kerb, and drivers will adjust for the wider parked vehicles so hopefully the MINI is nice and protected.
