53 is disappointing, that seems pretty good to me.

Most people never seem to manage to get the combined cycle figure. Most ONE and Cooper ownersget quite a bit less than 40mpg despite the combined figure of about 43.

I didn't get near the combined figure in my last car either so I suspect the figures are a bit off for all cars.
