England £14,500. Ouch.

Saw in this weeks AUTO CAR magazine that the MINI cooper convertable is going to cost £14,500 which is £2,800 more than the standard cooper. That is a jump i think is way to much. We all know the MINI is a good priced base car but to spec it up to a good standard (IMO) including chilli pack costs £3,000 more. £££17,500 for a cooper covertable is more than i want to pay or will be able to afford. i think the only way i would consider the mark up will be if the car comes with a much better spec and more on the options packs for the same money. By next summer, here in britain you will be able to buy a six year old mercedes SL which is a differant level, specced up to the eyeballs and with hardly any more deprecition ever, which would cover the extra insurance cost (for the average driver). dont get me wrong i badly want the MINI but i am now worried i will be getting rid of my option of one of the first cars in the country, i paid my deposit over a year ago..(im number 5 on list)
