As for the Merc SL being a hairdressers car, i think you may have got it confused with the SLK, which IMO is a bit girly.(the SL is£60,000 new, surely more exclusive?)That brings up my other concern, i think the MINI CONV may well get the hairdresser tag. P.S. for some reason i have a subscription with both Auto Express and Autocar.

So you did mean the SL. Sorry, I just presumed it was a typo as I couldn't see any way that the SL could be an alternative to the Mini cabrio, which of course the SLK is. At the end of the day, the SL will still be 6 years old and my point still stands (just omit the word 'hairdresser').

The Mini's already been labelled as 'this' and 'that', but seems to shrug the labels off. I'm fairly certain that at this time next year demand for Mini cabrios will far outstrip demand for 6 year old Merc SL's. How much would it cost to keep one of them on the road?

Anywho, all the best. Hopefully the cabrio will come in at less than expected.
