Every time I've seen a price for a new vehicle in Autocar it's been inaccurate; unfortunately they tend to under-price if anything. I could certainly imagine the Cabrio being £2K more than the standard Cooper. A lot of extra metal has to go into the sills to keep the thing firm and stop scuttle-shake. You've also got the cost of that drop-top mechanism!
