Banging Parcel Shelf

In between hearing the odd lumbar support crack and the constant driver seat squeaking I've heard something new!

The parcel shelf appears to bump up and down as I go along the road and I can hear this tap-tap-tapping sound. It must be like a programmed response now as I actually listen intensely for it all the time now!

So, I went and had a look, sure enough underneath there is two little rubber bump-stops, one at each end of the shelf and they look as if they've been rubbing on the boot interior. It's got scuff marks all over it.

My old man came up with the solution - get two 1cm x 3cm strips of velcro (the same size as the stops) and glue one side to the rubber bump stump and the other half where the scuff marks are. Problemo (hopefully) solved, no more vibrations on the move and it'll open and close with a satisfying velcro rip! It's like many of the problems we've all encountered, minor but annoying all the same. I can't help thinking a little bit of care and attention during testing by BMW would have seen these cleared up.

DBK.
