True, but your rate of acceleration will reduce beacuse of the power drop off. Wheras if you shift, the higher torque pulling lower gearing will surely result in at a better rate of acceleration (assuming everything is designed and matched correctly). If you were right, then shift lights would always be set at the redline (they're not), and by upping your rev limit you'd increase your acceleration performance (you don't).
