). When my wife drives her 12 mile surface street commute here in LA we get about 18 MPG. As a point of reference, that commute takes about an hour.
Mixed freeway and surface street about 26 MPG. Pure freeway (80+ MPH) about 29 MPG. Never seemed to be unusual until I read here that folks are actually getting in the mid-twenties in town! I'm guessing our situation is more severe than what I've read so far.
Like most here, mileage wasn't much of a factor when deciding on the car, so haven't been too concerned.
