Hi Speedy,

Though I'm not in NZ. But I am sure that South Island is a perfect place to make the best out of your Mini. I spent 2 weeks in driving around the island 5 years ago. I started from Greymouth, and then the glaciers, Bunedin and then Christchurch. Really love that.
