Paul - I've just replied in another thread about the BMW seat. The bolster is a bit of a pain and at the moment my daughter doesn't like it. From speaking to other people who've had seats with bolsters rather than harnesses they say as the child grows they get more used to it and are fine. My daughters been in it twice and after the second go seemed to settle down with it a bit, but she didn't look comfortable as she's too small for the bolster cushion (even though she is above the recommended weight). I've resorted to using the Britax ISOFIX Duo we use in our other car. Solid as a rock in there, but like you I'm a bit unsure as it hasn't been approved by BMW/MINI. I was guessing that they wouldn't approve it for use as they want to sell more of their own seats? It certainly seems as solid as it does in our Audi A3 when its installed.

I'll have a look tomorrow to see if the BMW seat reclines - I thought it did, but not with much travel. I know the seat back height is adjustable which seems quite dinky - it will certainly last longer than the Britax seat in that respect. When she's in with the bolster she seems very secure and absence of shoulder straps must be ok if it's on sale and approved?
