I hope you guys aren't emailing BMW with complaints about the 17" rims. I personally like the white mini-lites displayed on the Oasis MINI. I am sure that they are not standard issue on even the S model as 95% of all the pics on this site portray wheels of smaller diameter, likely 15" and 16" sizes.

I will definitely opt for the 17" rims on a Cooper S, if available. I'm not sure about this, but does anyone know if the S model comes fitted with larger brakes, rotors, calipers, etc? I know the configuration of some braking systems dictates the use of larger rims. Is this a possibility?

The intent of my email to BMW was to encourage them to offer Minilite style wheels in 15" and 16" fitments and not just in 17". When I refer to Minilite style wheels I mean the 8-spoke wheels on the MINI below:

I haven't attended any of the shows but the only photos I've seen with what appear to be 17" wheels are the one above and this one:

I think I read that the MINI One and MINI Cooper will have 15" wheels as standard with 16" as optional. The Cooper S will probably come with 16" wheels as standard.

I remember looking at the Lexus IS300 when it first came out. The sales brochure said that the tires on the standard 17" wheels would last only 20K (maybe that's why 16" wheels were a no-cost option). Personally, I don't want to be forking out money to pay for tires that often ... especially when they'll most likely be expensive 'run-flat' tires (MINI will have no spare).

But ... to each his (or her) own.
