Is this a fault, normal, or is it just me..?

Occasionally if I am travelling at a brisk pace and I brake on the late-ish side (not dangerously late, just not progressively from a distance), I can feel a rhythmic clunk coming up through the brake pedal into my foot which gets less frequent as the speed decreases, but stops before I come to a halt. Am I locking the brakes by braking too hard (I have ASC+T), or is it a fault? This doesn't happen in normal driving, I have braked harder before and it's not happened, and it hasn't occured when I've had to do an emergency stop either. It's not very often happening, but it occured this evening as a braked from 60mph on a country lane when I met a junction, and I thought to myself 'Does this happen to any other MINI2ers?'. I drive up this road everyday from work so its not a suprise to me that I have to stop. So, any ideas anyone?

Cheers, Martin.
