Outward Dent in Hood

My MINI is only a few weeks old, and Friday I discovered a small outward dent in my hood/bonnet/fender. It looks as if someone tapped a nail from the inside. But the hood hasn't been opened for weeks! Upon inspection there is a second layer of metal slightly behind it so I don't see how anything could have gone in there and done it. Any idea what in the world could have caused it? But more importantly, what's the recomended fix? Should I try tapping it back in lightly with a hammer, covered with a cloth or something? I assume I should instead talk to a dent place. But again it's wierd because it's outward! Not to mention it just seemed to appear out of nowhere. Here's a pic:
