Got to Keep Track of the Parts

When we took out my oil filter the plastic tube from the cap end was still in it. This left only the spring in the cap. We removed the seal and tube from the cap end of the filter and the seal from the block end. With all the parts laying there and a new (and different) filter in my hand, it was a little confusing as to how this all went back together.

I posted a procedure similar to the one above as a new threead. The difference is that it includes what to do with those parts.

Without this information it would be easy for an uninterested iol change guy to put the filter in wrong.

I love this car and I admit to being more than a little paranoid about the engine staying in good health. I plan to run and enjoy this great little car fpr a very long time.

My wife has one on order. Should be here in a couple months. I think being a two MINI family will be great except she wants to park it in order to save it until her Buick (read BOAT) dies. I don't think she'll be able to hold out that long.
