I do believe to the best of my knowledge that the MINI Convertible actually comes with stiffer suspension than the hardtop to deal with the extra weight....

Thus when you specify sports suspension on a Convertible, you are in fact getting what must be close to SS+ on a hardtop....

My Convertible has got the SS that is in the CHILLI Pack, and it handles great, and the ride isn't too firm on 16" wheels....
