Hey guys,

I found an offer for H-Sport springs for $120 that the owner claims to have been used for 7000 miles. Would buying used springs be a bad idea? If so, why? What is the life span of springs for the MINI Cooper S anyways? I am planning on getting these springs installed on my MINI Cooper S. Would it be a problem that the springs were previously installed on a MINI Cooper? What should I look out for to check if the springs are in good condition?

Thanks!

Not a whole lot of issues, given TRUST in the seller. Springs should be good for way over the life expectancy of the car itself. One thing you may want to do is check the relative height of each pair (any difference and I would not touch them) Other than that, if you know of someone who has access to a spring rate checker (race teams tend to have that sort of thing) you should have them checked for consistency.
As to problems with them being installed on a Cooper, none whatsoever.
Hope this helps

What is the saving over new?

You might find it's easier to go for the peace of mind in buying new springs. As far as car components go, springs are relatively cheap. I was in a similar boat a while ago and knew of some used Eibachs, mind these ones had had a pretty hard life and had a lot more than 7000 miles on them, the price was pretty good, but in the end I figured I would feel better with new springs, rather than used.

As mentioned, trust in the seller is the key I think. Good luck.
