: Build Sheet for Your Car....? Brynster Nov 14th, 2005, 10:00 AM :p
Can anyone help, please, with a link to the site that allows you to see the actual build sheet for a BMW/MINI? I think it has 'OEM' in the title but not sure. Came across it on NAM where a guy was saying that most MINIs come with heated seats whether you ordered them or not. Look up what you have (using chassis no./VIN) on this website and you'll then know if you have (free!) heated seats and only need to get them connected up.:p
Apparently, some features (like OBC) are fitted because it's easier than not doing so.
You can find 'hidden' extras by looking up your build sheet.
Wish I had bookmarked the site at the time(!) then I could share.
Ring any bells.....? Jeenyus Nov 14th, 2005, 10:23 AM i did look under my seats and i saw some wires see pics! maybe they're for the heat seats thing!! Brynster Nov 14th, 2005, 12:14 PM Dunno.
Don't set your airbags off, though! emu_p Nov 14th, 2005, 12:24 PM i did look under my seats and i saw some wires see pics! maybe they're for the heat seats thing!!
Yellow connector is airbag
Blue is seat belt pre tensioner
You only have a heated seat element if a black connector
Is present and spare but the after market BMW kit is over £100
For the loom and buttons and you have to lift all the carpet etc to fit
Warning do not disconnect yellow or blue plug with battery connected
Or you it will require a trip to the dealer to reset the warning light!!!!! Brynster Nov 14th, 2005, 12:28 PM Helpful msg, no doubt, but we're a little OT, here.
I am hoping someone will recognise what I was on about with my original query re.
that OEM (?) site. Any answers gratefully accepted... Paul Nov 14th, 2005, 12:45 PM http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ Brynster Nov 14th, 2005, 01:14 PM http://www.realoem.com/bmw/
That's the one!
Thanks a million, Paul.
Will now investigate.

Well, you're just supposed to choose model type (eg. R52) then input chassis no. (last 7 characters of VIN) and it should spit out the spec (as built). However, mine's not doing it - maybe because it's too new. The same thing is happening (ie b-gg-r all) when I try to get into Owner's Lounge on MINI uk (where they say it may take a week for the VIN to be recognised). Bit of a let down, really:( Bilbo Baggins Nov 14th, 2005, 05:08 PM I have an '02 MCS and input my Vin and I don't get a build sheet either. Just a parts breakdown. But even that is not specific to my car, just a general parts list for multiple years. Brynster Nov 14th, 2005, 05:41 PM It's disappointing - and I'm sorry if I built up people's expectations - but the example I saw after following the NAM thread showed a detailed list of bits that went into the building of a Beemer. After what the poster said about heated seats and OBC, I had imagined finding untold buried treasure (free options!) when I did the check. I'll keep trying, though, and post any encouraging results.... Ferroequine Nov 14th, 2005, 05:53 PM When I wanted to fit factory fog lamps on my Expedition, the wiring looms were already there -- I just had to buy the new bumper plastic with fogs, a new multifunction light switch for the dash, plug things in and voila, OEM fogs!
Point of my story: A lot of times it is easier & more economical for the factory to fit one wiring loom for all options rather than 2 or 3 separate ones. The "end" pieces may still require fitting though... Paul Nov 14th, 2005, 05:53 PM I have a build sheet, but there's nothing exciting on it. Dan101KZ Mar 2nd, 2006, 06:02 PM is there any news on how one can get the build sheet? kyiana Sep 24th, 2008, 10:02 AM I just bought a 2005 S convertible and would really like to get a build sheet. Can anyone give me some direction on this?
Thanks  | |
