This weeks autocar says the second-generation mini is set for a July launch.
It also mentions that the cooper S will have a turbo engine but the pictures they are showing displays the hole in the bonnet still.
Do you think a July launch is likely to happen and will it have the planned new engine?

Going only on the last that I read - so I won't swear to it - the new generation MINI was likely to be unveiled at the British Motor Show in July but first cars weren't likely to be delivered until autumn of 2006; also, that the "S" model will not be part of an initial line-up which will include a base model and a Cooper. (The current S engine is being dropped at this time and, depending on the MINI model, normally aspirated or turbo engines will be offered in future). When the new S follows, the standard version will have the turbo engine of similar horsepower - but more torque - than the current supercharged car. There's lots more to read in the News and this Forum about this subject: speculation and info leaks.

Interesting news...I have asked the Mini brand manager for my dealer chain what he knows...not much I would think at this point...
If this is true...complicated decisions coming....Cooper, Cooper S, Traveller or no Traveller...timing for each and how it will affect residuals...and what it means, if anything, for the GP?

Don't think you will see the new MINI until the Paris Motor Show in September. Paris was also the launch show for the actual model six years ago.
