Whilst at work today I met a really nice guy with a Hartge tuned MCS. It went like a rocket. At £2000 all in with a 0-60 time of 6.6 sec and 210 BHP im very tempted. Will do in a few months when Im 21 for insurance purposes. What are your feelings on this kit? I know Clarkson liked it;)

thats a good 0-60time for a 210bhp. if i had an s and wanted to go for it, i would go for mini speed or amd tuning with 275bhp £5,000! but 0-60 5flat!!!!

certainly not ruled out GTT, seems V popular on here. Does anyone know if the topgear episode comparing John Cooper Works, Hartge etc was on a video? Would love to see that again!

Yes, don't forget Lohen. I can vouch for their work after recently having their LCS1 205bhp kit fitted. My MCS is much improved and the price for this kit is very affordable.

too much choice! I hear protek are good??? Like Hartge as thats all i have seen so far. Lot more expensive than GTT, when the parts seem very similar

Sorry to say

I thought Birds who do Hartge are no longer trading.

Might be wrong

Indeed Clarkson did like it, his words wer "Like a mini on tobasco sauce", Top Gear had my car for 2 days when they done the testing back in 2002, I was invited along with 6 geusts to the show as the car was going to be shown in an episode but the car was sadly dropped due to them having a chance to get the new Aston as a last minute entry, anyway I personally would rank the Hartge as a top contender for a 212bhp conversion having more feel and grunt than its other competitors...I have the short video somewhere I will try and get it posted somehow if your interested...

I never heard about this, a big shame if its true...Hartge being the first company to get this car to rock...

I doubt any current Mini could actually be driven from 0 - 60 in 5 seconds, there simply isn't the grip with high BHP engines, even with the DSC on or off, some other drive train mods would be needed
As for the conversion, yes, the Hartge is a fantastic upgrade, it's very aggressive with the power coming in around 3k -4k and pulls in every gear
I upgraded from a Hartge to a BBR 240 and it was brilliant, but traction was a serious issue

Both wrong here; The current minispeed conversion is 262bhp at the wheels and proven on the rollers. If anything its quicker then 5sec 0-60. There are no issues with traction because the kit includes a very good LSD. The power is amazing, extremely strong and handles very well. It can easily pull away in 6th gear if u wanted it too and can see off most Ccoobys, Porshes and even the odd Ferrari. The only way you can believe in this car is to get a seat in it :D. Thats one thing I like about Minispeed; If they state an upgrade gives a certain power, it does.

I was only doubting it in standard set up, as per my post ;) as the LSD has been added then yes, it's totally realistic to expect a sub 6 second 60 time :)

Why only 275bhp? 300bhp is possible with the Rotrex:confused:
Sub 5 secs to 60 is a bit hard to swallow me thinks....
