: how to align window george p Jan 8th, 2006, 06:27 PM hi to all
does anyone know how to align window in order to cure annoying squeaking noise coming from the diagnal window seal.the window comes down as normal. i have reset the window height by holding switches up for 5 seconds or so, however, when window closes against seal its a very tight fit and as a result i hear the sqeaking, rubbing noise against the rubber seal.do i need to adjust the 2 bolts at the bottom of the door? if so towards what direction? or does the window need to be moved up- down or left -right by loosening the two round things inside the door. these are visible by taking off the plastic trim where the door finishes and the window starts.any help will be much appreciated. thanks in advance. hi to any aussie members from melbourne australia;) ;) Rayman Jan 8th, 2006, 07:54 PM Id be interested in the answer to this too? george p Jan 8th, 2006, 08:27 PM and so would i and thats if i get an answer. i am confident though that sby is bound to come up with a solution or even suggestion to this VERY COMMON in my opinion, ANNOYING PROBLEM MINI-Morgan Jan 8th, 2006, 09:14 PM Could also lubricate it slightly with something like Vaseline. george p Jan 9th, 2006, 05:57 PM Could also lubricate it slightly with something like Vaseline.
THANKS FOR THE ADVICE BUT I THINK THAT THE DROPPING OF THE WINDOW NEEDS ADJUSTING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR. ANY IDEA OF HOW TO... retired00 Jan 10th, 2006, 01:34 PM George: The Bentley manual says the two bolts at the bottom adjust the "pretension adjustment" (with the door closed the window jams against the door seal) (also described there as the inward rake of the window). It simply says to move the sliders in or out to adjust the pretension, torque to 7Nm (5 ft-lb). The "Position adjustment" (amount window inserts into the seal) is far more complex and mentions several BMW Special Tools. george p Jan 11th, 2006, 11:03 AM George: The Bentley manual says the two bolts at the bottom adjust the "pretension adjustment" (with the door closed the window jams against the door seal) (also described there as the inward rake of the window). hi and thanks for the valuable input.
any idea where the correct position of the 2 screws are? to be more precise, there is a kind of rail. does the bolt have to be towards the door trim, in the middle of the rail or towards the outer door. i cant understand what you mean by torque 7nm''
cheers from freezing Athens:) :) retired00 Jan 11th, 2006, 02:20 PM George, unfortunately what I posted is all it says--basically "adjust to fix it" but no comment about in/out or the starting position for the bolt sliders. The 7 Nm refers to the torque you apply to the bolts after adjusting--not too much, basically. george p Jan 11th, 2006, 08:46 PM George, unfortunately what I posted is all it says--basically "adjust to fix it" but no comment about in/out or the starting position for the bolt sliders. Did you get a resolution to the squeek? KenL Apr 23rd, 2007, 10:01 PM Ask your dealer for some "Gummi Pflege". It is basically a rubber protector/lubricant.
Applying this regularly may help. A spray can was only £3.20 (~5 Euros) from my local dealer. | |
