:D Hi - Ray West has done quite a few Minis - I cannot acclaim the conversion highly enough - it turns a car which cannot pull at all into a right little rocket :D

West Tune seem to have a fab reputation, with decades of experience race-preparing Audis/BMW's & I think building/running Jaguar team cars as well as converting road cars. They are more than a quickfit garage with a laptop!

I have never measured the car against the clock on a 0-60, as this is of little interest - all I know is that before I couldn't overtake safely from 50-60 unless I had bags of room, now I can safely nip past anything with ease. The top speed has increased substantially too, but again UK roads & speed traps are my limiting factor, not the theoretical max.

How much is substantially? Always wondered what it will do in top with more power!

Back to the warranty issue - will the dealer know it's been remapped unless they put it on a rolling road? or are picky enough to notice when they're driving it round?

I wouldn worry about getting a Re=Map and warranty issues-It wasn't picked up on the service they did, only a in depth investigation would throw something up ;)

Just been to dealers and spoke to my salesman guy - hes a good lad always honest and after asking around it would appear it rarely gets picked up on. It's only when they plug a laptop in to the car anybody noices - probably go for it now

Folks,

don't cheat yourself. :-)

Re-mapping the engine management is a serious thing w.r.t. warranty for engine, drivetrain, etc. This will void your warranty definitely. Has been discussed a lot before.

Furthermore, your car will no longer meet the original specifications. In my country this would mean to loose the permission to operate the car on public roads, which in turn would void your insurance in case of an accident ...

And ...
.. those driving a re-mapped MOD keep telling us, that it really makes a difference (more power, little rocket, completely new car, ... ;-)) You think your mechanic at BMW wouldn't notice this when test driving your car after service? These guys drive the cars and are listening to each noise, feel any difference, ... they are specialists. Don't underestimate them ..

No moral point in the story from my side, but you should have a clear understanding of what you are doing and the risks you are taking.

Get a Bluefin, then when it's time to have it serviced, change back to the original map.
Problem sorted.

Bluefin........It is not available for our Diesels........Problem not solved,,,,there must be a way, someone!
Si, wasn't yours 110bhp as well, Ray West, it must have gone as well as their standard stock S's, lol.
My garage don't drive the cars after service either, well only had one oil service on the three MINI's i've had, but on that they just did the oil change, and parked it outside the garage, so they didn't get out of 1st gear!

Yeah mate he got it to 105, but had more torque than a Cooper S which is why you could keep un on the Twistys, it's just the Straights it would lose it on.

If and when they bring the Blue fin out, it will be very good for warranty conscious drivers :D
I wonder if Blue fin will wait for the new 2006/2007 engine to come out and adopt it for those?

It should take my one upto around 130bhp mark, the cost was £420+VAT. Mobile fitting service too so won't have to travel anywhere ;)

very true, but if you have an incident, say something go wrong, a smash, then this is when they are more than likely to look for it and thats it, end of game;)

how much will your insurance increase having the remap? As if you don't inform them then your not insured, then you could be liable for prosecution too.
