My mcs baulks sometimes going from 2nd to 3rd...and yesterday it left me high and dry on the wrong side of the road because of it...luckily it went in just in time. It's not just me either, one of the technicians did it on a test drive as well. Its only 1/50 changes, but i've had to develop an unatural change up rather than follow the natural flow to avoid it, so that makes it happen less than it should, but fast changes can still be problematic.
Any ideas?

That's definitely not right.
Gating isn't the same in a cable driven setup as it is in direct linkage shifters. Less likely for adjustment errors to occur.
I'd get pretty insistent about them fixing it. Particularly if it's a safety issue.
