Well two weeks after ordering I finally have a production date!!

3rd April 2006 - which I believe is week 13.

So will my Pepper White MINI Cooper S convertable be trundling down the production line along side yours? Who knows!!

Welcome to the wait

So now it's official. I've just ordered my MINI and it's our 3RD!! Ordered our 1st ('04 MCS CR/W) in Nov '03, "Audrey" arrived Feb 11, 2004. Specc'ed out as our then 14 yr old wanted as it would be hers when she started driving. In April 2004 we ordered our 2nd for hubby ('04 MCS JB/JB) "Bagheera" arrived July 16 2004.

Now the teenager is driving Audrey and I need a car. Can't drive Bagheera cuz he's all fitted up as USTCC #58 and barely street legal. So what do I get? Another MINI of course. I can't imagine driving anything else. Don't have a name for sure yet but here are her speccs:

'06 MCS
Purple Haze/White
White S-lites
White bonnet stripes
Black/grey leatherette (I wanted space cloth, but it's disc  )
Alloy Patina dash
6 speed manual
LSD
Sport Pkg
Harmon Kardon

That's about it. Not too fancy. I know what bits I wanted and what I didn't, so it was easy. The tough part was the color.

So the waiting begins. I can't believe I'm putting myself through this madness for the 3rd time, but at the same time I'm thrilled.

Ordered through Classic in Ohio and I got their last April production slot. So I guess I'm looking at May/June delivery.

C'mon all you other April production folks...I know you're out there. Let's hear from you.

Moderator: We need other colors on the icons. What about the 05 and 06 colors out there???? Pleeeeaase.

It should be ready to collect mid-April time. Really looking forward to it. :D

And Ayde-Bury, you lucky ones who live so close to the factory. When our cars are done we get to wait another 2-3 weeks for the boat to get here. *Sigh* Can't wait to see pictures when you take delivery! In the meantime, what are your specs???

That sounds really nice Ayde. This is my first MINI and I have gone for a Park Lane with the only extras being a MFSW and the folding mirrors/heated washer jets. I'm getting mine from Carrs at Bury St. Edmunds, who have been great so far.

Now it's just a waiting game.

Ayde: Great look! Question- how is the windscreen heated? Like the rear window with the wires in the glass? I can see why you got the heated seats, being as it's a convertible :D How different are the Recarro seats from the stock MINI seats or sport seats? Different upholstery too? The chrome will look great with the pepper white! I've not seen a pepper white convertible.

Called ASK MINI today and it said that I'm scheduled for production but no date yet. Hopefully because I'm already scheduled for production it means I have an early date in April crosses fingers

Also a very nice spec.

I too would of gone to Carrs in Bury, but the trade-in they offered me 3 years ago against a OneD was so bad I had to go elsewhere. Your are going to so love that car - you'll be grinning like a Cheshire Cat, especially when you get a wave from antoher MINI driver.

With the PW car I didn't want coloured leather, or upholstery (rain etc) and thought that the black leather with black interior would be far too dark. So the pale grey and black leather Rec's won :) The Recarro seats didn't end up much more expensive than heated leather ones, so I thought what the heck. They seem a little bit more snug than standard mini sport ones, but are very comfortable for long journeys.

The windscreen is heated by extreamly thin wires in the glass - much much thinner than the ones in the rear window. I have it in a car some 10 years ago, and it is so nice to jump in and press a button instead of scrape ice from the windscreen - also great in freezing fog (if you get such things in the US?).

Good job I waited - it seems that my car may now be at the dealers in week 13, and going into production sooner than expected.

Sorry guys (and gals) I may of gone from an April production to March so started the wrong thread!.

You get your production number from your Motoring Advisor (MA) and then enter it on the MINIUSA site and you can follow the production status. (It's cool, albeit delayed). You can 866-ASKMINI as well, it's more up-to-date. Your MA should be able to give you more info at this point.

I do know that the production numbers are consecutive so we can tell who is before whom. I did the following when we ordered hubby's car:

Posted our production numbers (minus the last 2 digits for privacy) and posted what our production status was. That way we could tell if were were getting close to the next step. It helped alot back then. If you're interested we could try it here. I'll start.

SkateMom:
Prod # Order Date Status
70804XX Feb 28 Sched for Prod (MA says 2nd week of April)

Ayde-bury: if you were to play with us on this, what was your production #? We'd all know better where we stand since you have been bumped up and have more definitive dates.

Anyone else?

I'm a March build, but I might as well post my production number to maybe help you guys out.

70353XX

I ordered my DS/B MCS February 18th. It went into production March 10th.

Maybe this info will help you guys, if the production numbers are consecutive.

Wow, 703 is a March build. Thats a lot of numbers to 70804XX. Thanks for your number.

Just talked to my MA and he said I'm tentatively week 14. That's better than week 15 , which is what I thought I was.

Anyone else?

Hi,

Yes I'm still playing. I'm sort of in limbo between here and the March production group. I've just emailed the dealer to see if I can get a production number from them. It seems strange to me that the birthplace of the MINI (UK) have no options ata ll except to contact the dealer for information.

Will update you all when I get some more news.

Thanks for the info Skatemom.

I put my order on 03/08/06 and got a production number the very next day.
Here it goes: 70645XX

The website says it is on order. The ASK-MINI phone number says it is scheduled for production with no date yet. I think I will have a continual anxiety issue for the next 6 weeks or so.

ayde-bury:

Hopefully you can get a production number or something similar, the dealers in the US get a daily print-out of the status of their allotments and coresponding status. Call your dealer, he/she should be able to give you something;)

Skatemom, I ordered mine from Keeler Motors in Albany, NY. My MA said I should expect my mini delivered by end of April, so I'm probably looking at late March/April production.

I ordered my Convertible 5/3/06 and have been given a Production Number of
1745XXX can this be correct? I was told it would start being built first week in April. How do we work the www.miniusa.com site to get the status?:aargh:

PS. Wheres the Madeirense flag???;);)

Still waiting for the production number from my dealer - my personal sales rep is away training.

In the UK each dealer is allocated a certain allocation of MINIs per month, for example 10 Ones, 2 One D's 15 Coopers 1 CooperS Convert!!! So I wonder if each one of those allocations has already got a production number - hence the strange order of numbering ?

Anyone in the know able to enlighten us??

Hi Madeira Jon,

I don't believe that European production numbers will work in the US system. Hopefully your Motoring Advisor will be able to give you more information. Good luck.
