Hi all,

Might be a daft question, but has anyone used or is using a solar powered trickle charger for keeping their battery topped up? My Cooper S isn't being used much at the moment and wondered if one of these would be a good idea? Most of them seem to work by plugging into the cigarette lighter socket and seem to easy to be true? If anyone is using one of these I would be grateful for any feedback.

Thanks alot,

Tim

I'd just spring for a good electric one.

Like the Battery Tender (http://www.batterytender.com/).

Don't need sunlight, less likely to get pinched if your car is outside.

Most, if not all, the solar chargers that work through a lighter need a constant hot lighter. The MINI doesn't have one

Can a solar panel really provide enough current to keep a lead acid battery trickle charging?? especially with the load of the alarm?

can't you just retro fit your cars roof for a solar panel!!!

that'd look class!
