I've been to Keevil and Hullavington both Motorsport Events track days. And each one has a set of professional photographers there.

I would love to mate, not done a track day for a while. However got a holiday and a wedding abroad to attend so i'm pretty skint.

Next year I reckon, I will have bought some track 17s with toyo 888s then, saves trashing my road tyres!

:nice:

interested in bedford one - is there any DB limit to exhaust etc?

also when do u pay on the day?

(have mcs ruunin 250-60bhp plus nos)

260bhp PLUS NOS...???? :D :D

Noise limit shouldnt be a problem - Minis dont come close to it, even heavily modded ones.

Payment is between you and the organisors - pretty sure they will accept a deposit and balance on the day....

do I put you down as a positive....?

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty sure i'm up for this.... did Brands a couple of months ago so would like to try Bedford.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for cheap tyres to use on the day.. i've got a full spare set of wheels but they're pretty much shot already and dont wanna risk going round on the carcass for the whole of the afternoon session!

I'm guessing this is the one throught motorsportvision... but a discount would be good.

Tony can you PM me if this definately goes ahead as i've got a colleague with a 911 thats also interested.

Cheers!
Dave

Hi dave,
pretty sure this is going ahead - and yes it is Motorsportvision. Hopefully get at least 10% off.

If you are serious about track driving, I used a set of R888 Toyo's - very sticky (even in the wet) and they lasted 7 trckdays - so easily paid for themselves in terms of road ture wear. they also make you very rapid around the corners.... you should be able to pick up a full set for less the £400.

Hi Tony,

Definately up for this as it'll give me plenty of time to sort out the car. I've also got one other (non-mini) whos interested so if you can use him to up the numbers and get a better discount then please feel free.

I'll have a look at those tyres, cheers. Not sure if money's gonna stretch that far so if I end up with some proper cheapos then be sure to wave as you fly by on the track!

Let me know when you get the details/confirmation.

Cheers
Dave

In terms of tyres I go to Mytyres.co.uk for toyo t1r's although they don't do r888's which is a shame. depends want you want!

The turnout for the day is shaping up well Tony. Looking at the list I feel I'll be Mr slow again with all those highly moded S's.

Time to sharpen up the MCSC I think:rolleyes:

it is indeed.

You know full well its about the driver, not the BHP mate. so you have no justification for getting your car tuned...

Hi Guys,

Just another quick question.... is it best to up to a slightly wider tyre i.e. 215 rather than 205?

I'm guessing such a small change wont make a huge amount of difference, but there's a lot more choice in the 215 range.
Now i've just got to decide whether to get ones that will grip for £300-£400 a set, or go the comedy route and get cheap as chips ones for £200 as set.

What does everyone reckon? I'm thinking either go the whole hog and get some proper sorted tyres, or get some cheapos and also do some work on the brakes?

Any thoughts??

Dave

the more grip you have, the faster you can go around the track - however, that doesn't mean it will be better for you - you can have more fun usually with less grip - remember, you will lose grip at some point - would it not be better to lose at 75pmh on cheaper or thinner tyres or at 95mph on more expensive tyres...?

most good drivers will know how/when these levels occur, and use them to their advantage.

I'm running 215's on R888's - grip levels are astounding - but, I'd probably have a better track expereince on less grippy rubber. does this make sence...?

In terms of tyre choice I would probably go for the toyo T1R's as a great all round tyre. On track you can see the clear difference between the r888's and t1r's but as tony aludes to above the lower grip offered by my T1R's allows the car to wash out a little earlier or drift out where as the R888's will be sticking to the tarmac like glue. This from a safety point of view is a good thing. I wouldn't go super cheap though. Incidently a full set of tyres through www.mytyres.co.uk of the typre I recommend is only around £350 including fitting at local dealer. The other thing to check and recheck are tyre pressures this is critical.

as for 215's over 205's don't expect a big difference.

Tony you are too kind!

But it would be great to see a MCSC pulling 230 GG's with the lid down doing 125+ down the back straight:D :D

The booking is definate for this day Davy - just haven't ironed out the 'discount' details yet - as my contact at MVS is on leave until monday. Will be speaking to him then, and releasing details on how/when you should book...

please let me have the details of the other cars so that I can add them to our list (for more positive 'leverage' from the organisers....)

cheers

This time round I'm going to try some octane booster as I suspect that I had a bit of pinking at the high end of the rev range - or maybe I should learn to change gear before the rev limiter cuts in:confused:

Will be good to have the usual suspects plus some new faces out on the day - Bedford is a friendly place and once you discover where they hide the Jammy Dodgers, it caters for most things a petrol head needs.

I can totally appreciate that Tony. I was keeping up with some of the more standard MCS's when I went to Bruntingthorpe in my Cooper Works (140BHP). This was mainly helped a) by previous go-karting experience and b) Dunlop DO1J tyres allowing me to carry more speed through the corners.

Hi Guys,

Right, i've booked my place as well, although Alex did mention that he needs 10 bookings before he'll finally book everyone on.

Am definately looking forward to this one, and will be good to meet some more MINI2 people, oh.. and hopefully getting to sample some modded MINIs as mine looks like its one of the only standard cars going!!

See ya

Dave

Right then guys and gals. I'm booked but we are being a little slow in taking up this great offer that Tony has sorted as I was only the 5th to put my name down. They are holding the bookings until the end of the month so come on phone them up and give them your card details.

This is going to be a top day and its always fun seeing tony trying his hardest to overtake a cabriolet!!!

Hi there,
Just a reminder about the track day coming up at Badford. Could really do with your suppport for this event, as our discount and free tuition depend so much on it. Its going to be a great day, and is suitable track for novice drivers that dont want to go too hard out there, and is plenty big enough for more experienced drivers.

I have posted booking info on post No1 of the thread. If you've already booked then please forgive the email. If you really cant make it please let me know. If you can make it, could I please ask you to book asap - pretty sure they'll accept a deposit at this stage to secure your place.

heres the thread:
http://www.mini2.com/forum/uk-ireland-event-planning-discussion/112628-uk-track-day-sat-may-27th-bedford-autodrome-group-discount.html

Many thanks for your support. Hopefully we'll have a Mini dominated track day and scare the pants of a few more expensive cars....!!
regards
Tony
