you havin a pop mate, are you? are you? Come on then, bring it on. In your flower power girly convertiable. Come on then..... :o

......

Not at you Tony, but we've all been there. I was on anglesey where this std MX5 was flying round. I knew I should be quicker but I wasn't and he was all over me in the corners while I would clog it down the straights. I let him past and afterwoods had a word with him. Turned out he lived 5 minutes away and knew the track really well.

Having driven a fair few track das, I can indeed testify ... power is pretty irrelevant on a track ... my TVR would leave everyone for dead out of corners and along the straights... only to see a dozen Caterhams overtake me through the next corner and leave me half of the next straight to catch the.

My Caterham (bought in response to being annoyed as a TVR driver) left everything for dead, through the corners, but was annoying as hell down a long straight.

Weight + grip is a bigger factor than power or driver skill!

I won't be going too quick in my Mini, just becasue I know it can't go that quick. I will be having barrel loads of fun though.

p.s. Best track day I ever did way pouring with rain.... car was sliding all over, got a technique of letting go of the steering wheel in every corner to recover it :aargh: brilliant fun though, and at half the normal speed.

p.p.s Sort of hoping for wet track really... :D

Well the weather has now changed to cloudy for Saturday in Bedford.

yeah, pretty useless at long range forecasting arent they. On Tuesday it said full sunshine, then yesterday Sunny spells, now today cloudy. I'm expecting torrential rain tomorrow at this rate.

Useless feckers the met office.

Damn it!

I remember a while back the Met Office making a big song and dance about some new weather modelling software and new super computers that would make the weather more accurate even up to a month or two in advance.

Ever since the first forecast with the new equipment the weather has been no where near as acurrate as it was before.

I have the five day forecast set as one of my homepages on Firefox. I look out the window, bright sunshine. Forecast for today, rain. Doesn't rain all day. Useless.

They'd probably make a better weather forecast by looking in a field and seeing whether the cows are lying down or not :D

No cows lying down = Sunny
1 cow lying down = Sunny Intervals
2 cows lying down = Cloudy
3 cows lying down = Light Rain
4 cows lying down = Heavy Rain
5 cows lying down = Thunderstorm
6 cows lying down = Michael Fish is going to announce there's no chance of a Hurricane.
Cows dancing in field = Mad cow disease is back in Britain.

Its hard to believe an organisation can have such a prolonged level of sheer incompetence and still not get shut down.

Peerhaps my company write the software....? :D

Well, the rain didnt ruin it, it actually made it more fun.

Superb day out, absolutly knackered now.

Glad to see yet another track day event go smoothly, with some good skilled driving, loads of fun and more smiles and laughter than any other event I've ever been to in a Mini, and yet again no damage and no scares.

Plenty of minor offs and moments, not least Anand in a heroic slide, spin and off right in front of the pits, whilst being given 'professional tuition'!!!! 9.7 points scored and a round of applause. We would all happen to be watching at the time. Well done fella.

The cars all performed so well again, testimony to the quality of the car and the various conversions - it was nioce to see Hartge, JCW, GGR, Lohen, and GTT represented well (you never see a BBR at these things.... )and nice to see a good driver show that a non tuned car can out - do nearly 50% more horsepower, especially in the wet. :D

Biggest laugh for me was going for to 2 great passenger rides - one in a friends WRX Sti scooby - nost amazing driving I have ever seen - he hand brake turned into a power slide to take one of the hairpins in the pouring rain!!!! - he learned to drive on Ice in Sweden so his skills are truely unbelievable. The other ride was in a very rare £50k Exige 240R supercharged, driven by a great fellow named James. Big kudos to him for charging around the track even in the heavy rain - it was superb . When he lost it completly at PLUS 130mph at the end of the straight - backwards - I felt like a passenger in an train wreck - we must have done 250 yeards backwards over the grassed areas, no idea what was coming up behind us. Anyway, no harm done, except to under pants!!!! Straight back into gear and charge back off in the correct direction!!!

Superb 4 wheel drifts in the wet, plenty of 'ooops' moments, but managed to catch all my spins early - maybe getting better at this...?

Another great time - trying to follow Russel in his immence drifting slide off around the pit corner - seperb. I was trying my best to keep in my windscreen so the video camera caught it all - and succeeded. Video to follow....:D

More great memories - climbing all overe the backend of that Ferrari 575 Maranello - and banging past him on a short straight as he fights to keep his tail straight - Minis rule in the rain!

Mad bad Malc poppin his "i never spin cherry" with a 360 down the main straight.... :D

My mate Jonathan spinning it off on the first corner of his first lap of his first track day!!! LOL.

**IMPOTANT** I paid for a professional photographer to cover the event, his photos of you can be found at http://www.mk-photos.co.uk/ so please take a look. Everyone who attended gets one photo free!

So, whoose up for another track day...??? :D :D :D

As all they say in F1 it all came down to tyre choice - as the heavens opened people started either going home (wimps) or chaning back to road tyres. But not the MINI contingent - cos we'd discovered the joys of low traction driving - top stuff.

Had a couple of spins, both down to school boy errors and both very good fun.

Cheers Anand for the pax laps in the Porker - sounds awesome and nuff respect for keeping it nailed in the wet - video to follow.

Russ, I don't know what you've got in that ragtop, but you're very hard to catch. BTW did you know your back end wags all over the place - vid to follow

Good efforts from those who shall not be named (but drive a 275 MCs), Ginge and the very swift Woodsy and of course Tony. The course marshals took a bit of a dim view of our 3:30 track attack, but it makes pretty good footage!

Cheers

Car needs to go to Jaz in Wembley for an oil change, and check for the brakes when I get my @rse in gear. JonnyB, give them a try if you are local for your Porker care, I'm very impressed and reasonable rates too ;)

God this guy takes some very boring photos. the cars may has well have been stationary.

My own photos are better, imho, than these. He had full track access as well.

Look at that picture of mine of that scooby. Taken with a crappy 4meg camera, and no fancy zoom lens. Its so slow you have to press the button bwfore the car enters the frame. Yet that pro photographer has no shots in his whole catalogue that come near to showing the excitment and speed of the day. Just photos of cars in the rain. Lee Marshall photography - no thanks...:(

Matt's photos are better and he didnt have the track access.
