: What are people paying for floormats?

My dealer is asking $94! Which seems incredibly high, but if I want just the crappy rubber ones they are only $74!!!!

Is this typical or are they making a killing?

Also what about CD changer, boot bin and other accessories?

Fabric floormats were free for me (well, not _free_ but included).

have paid as much as $2500!;) :D

I'm getting ripped off for $600 for Floormats, a tank of gas, a waxing and some miscellaneous crap. I tried to fight it but the (insert expletive)s wore me down and the idea of cancelling the order and going to the bottom of another list didn't appeal to me.

The best floormats I have ever had cost me $80. They're the thick rubber ones with the deep channels sold in the back of the car mags. Great for Rochester slush.

If it's not "mandatory" to get dealer add-ons, go elsewhere, it's cheaper and you have more of a selection.

Are they better than the standard ones? Worth £35?

And it was my option, not a dealer requirement.

Thanks for that Smiffy.

I must admit I prefer carpet under my feet, but I'll see how quickly the carpet ones wear out.:)

While those prices for floor mat will never fly at WalMart, that is very typical for car model-specific floor mats from the car manufacturer. You'd pay similar for Toyota, Chrysler, etc.

BTW, the rubber mats are very nice. :)

According to the MINI Motoring Accessories catalog:

Carpet Floormats (set) 94.50
Rubber Floormats (front) 47.95
(rear) 29.95
CD Changer 595.00
(install kit) 24.50
Boot Box 80.00

The rubber floormats are easy to clean ;)

The fabric mats were included in the base price of the car. We paid MSRP.

The Rubber ones were $45 for the front pair, less for the rear pair, and $90 for the boot liner.

I'm not sure of the exact prices, as I bought them all together as a 'deal' which worked out only marginally more expensive than searching them out individually.

The rubber mats are very, very nice. They even have these little anchors that lock them into place.

The rubber boot liner is also great. It's got a 2-3" lip, and can contain big spills. The rubber mats and bootliner all look pretty hard-wearing.

The included fabric mats looked to be about as crappy as they come. Ours wouldn't fit under the rubber mats nicely, so they're sitting in in the spare room. Maybe I should sell them, since the OEM fabric mats are so expensive?

My dealer threw in the floormats as well as a baseball cap, he said the mats are $120.00. He doesn't believe in selling a $25000.00 car with no floor mats. Halifax BMW was great.

Gromit -

I got my Cooper also from Towne, upon acting especially surprised at their $600 'TLC' (aka extra profit, vastly different from MINI UK's TLC) I managed to get them to lower it to $500. I however was something like #35 that they sold, so they may be more careful now in telling you up front and you lose leverage.

Seemed to be sadly rather standard especially at BMW dealerships in the US to add in some random prep charges, that way they can claim to sell at MSRP, as well as not require any options.

I'm satisfied by edmunds.com True Market Value still being several hundred over what I paid 3 months later.

Other random (offtopic) Towne hint you may or may not know about: They'll automatically stick a Towne sticker on your car, but they won't if you ask.
