: Cant hear stereo (very faint) ... Sat Nav related?

Hi,

The stereo on our new mini is very very faint (yes its turned up!)...so much so that you can only hear it when the car's at a standstill - and as you can imagine, that isn't ideal!!

The speakers are fine, because the nice lady on the Sat Nav is coming through loud and clear...

I'm stumped - kind of like the stereo has been muted, but I've tried it without the Sat Nav on, but still nothing.

Any ideas anyone?

Do you have the HK system?
I had the same problem, turned out the amp needed replacing.

Sorry, I can't comment on that - I didn't have Satnav on the Mini that had that problem.

 seems a likley culprit, I imagine (like hands free kit) that the SAT NAV speak line is being held hi so muting the stereo. I assume its out of warranty which is why you are asking here, so I guess you need to identify the correct connection, and temporarily disconnect it to test.

The mini's in for a service today....hopefully they'll also find the cause of the quiet stereo...

The garage said a fault has been picked up 'in the wiring' ... but could tell more without a further investigation (1 hr...£90+vat).

The above suggestions are it could be the amp...does this mean the actual mini head unit, or a separate amp? If it's the main unit, surely my best bet would be to get a cheap replacement head unit to swap over (ie ebay).
