Hi, im about to fit a set of 17" Bk299's with 205/40/17 Tires to my cooper and lower it approx 30mm. But i,m just wondering, on standard shocks; will this wreck my shocks?
On my last car (Saxo) i lowered it 50mm on standard shocks and within about a month, all the shocks and dampers were completley knackered
What do you guys reckon? and any pics of a lowered mini on 17's with 40 profile tires?
Any help is much appriciated :p

Mine's lowered 30mm and I've had no problems. Obviously the dampers will wear quicker but nothing to be concerned about. I would say a 50mm drop on a Saxo is quite a bit and I'm not surprised the dampers didn't last long. What you need to remember is the Saxo suspension is softer as standard than the MINI so lowering it that much will, as you say, kill the dampers.
With the MINI a 30mm drop is the equivalent of having 4 people in the car so very little affect.
Dropping a Saxo 50mm is the equivalent of having the car full of beer on a booze cruise. Far higher strain on the suspension.
