: What tyre pressure is best? Cooperpot Jul 14th, 2006, 11:23 AM Hi there, just had a puncture repaired and i was wondering what tyre pressure i should be using. I never carry a heavy load, and no more than 1 passenger. I think the manual says that it should be around 2.3-2.4 BAR for my situation. At the moment i think all my tyres are at a different pressure. I'm using 15'' 8-spokes by the way, with non-runflats.
Any suggestions? minigolf Jul 14th, 2006, 11:56 AM Haha, first suggestion is to run the same pressures on the same axle, at the very least. :p
I think tyre pressures are a personal thing, and it is surprising what a difference to handling air pressure can make. I usually run my tyres at around 38psi. That may be too high for some, but I don't mind it.
The best advice really, is experiment, find a setting you like and then check regularly (once/twice a fortnight) to ensure your pressures are being maintained. This should ensure better tyre life, even wear, and possibly even yield a small improvment in fuel economy.

Twice a fortnight? Is that similar to once a week? :D Jon Chalk Jul 14th, 2006, 12:57 PM Nah - it's closer to four times a month. Baker Jul 14th, 2006, 01:20 PM On my last track day when experimenting with different tyre pressures with the guys from Michelin Motorsport, found that best setup for me was 40psi at the front - 38 at the rear - these were on HOT tyres though. minigolf Jul 14th, 2006, 01:36 PM Twice a fortnight? Summat like that. :p rinos69 Jul 14th, 2006, 02:49 PM On my last track day when experimenting with different tyre pressures with the guys from Michelin Motorsport, found that best setup for me was 40psi at the front - 38 at the rear - these were on HOT tyres though.
i would rather do the opposite, 38 at the front and 40 back.
Simply because our car tends to understeer (a lot) by itself... and as a general rule, if you put more pressure in the front than in the back you'll just increase this behaviour. Baker Jul 14th, 2006, 11:26 PM i would rather do the opposite, 38 at the front and 40 back.

Ah, but I have a bigger rear sway bar so my car does not tend to understeer but can oversteer - shows how suspension setup can really affect the setup on the tyres you have to run. GTT 280 Jul 15th, 2006, 08:05 AM I have moddified fully adjustable suspension (lowered) and spacers.
i run 33psi all round.
Too hi or too low  St00ge Jul 15th, 2006, 08:10 AM i run 42psi on all four :D | |
